Originally, this matchup was Elvis Costello vs. Nick Lowe. However, due to the fact that the two are so intertwined, I’m combining them for the duration of the tournament. Costello rose to fame in the late 70s behind poigniant and biting songs. Since then, he has explored many different genres and influenced tons of musicians. Lowe produced Costello’s first five albums, among other records, and recorded hit songs like “Cruel to be Kind”. His best-known song, “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding,” was a hit for Costello.
Due to multiple requests, begs, and threats, The Guess Who get this spot. The Canadian band tore off a string of hits like “American Woman”, “Share the Land”, and “These Eyes”. Guitarist Randy Bachman went on to form Bachman-Turner Overdrive.
