41 Lynyrd Skynyrd vs. 88 Guided By Voices

Sorry for the delay, everybody. Real life in the form of exams got in the way.

Lynyrd Skynyrd had great success in the 70s as one of the leaders of Southern rock. Unfortunately, it was cut short in 1977 when a plane crash killed three band members and three others.

Dayton, Ohio’s, Guided By Voices gained attention due to their lo-fi aesthetic, DIY attitude, prolific output, and, oh yeah, Robert Pollard’s great songs. The band, essentially Pollard and a rotating cast of musicians, slowly built their legend over a 20-year span.

What a delightful concept. Of course, it’s a beatdown because Ronny died before Twitter and Facebook were invented… I love both bands, a lot. it’s a shame one of them has to go out in this round.

I’m calling out the voting results for this particular matchup…. I find it highly unlikely that this poll out of all the others was able to generate over 400 votes.

I agree that there is obviously something strange here. I’m just not sure of the proper solution.

What’s the possibility of clearing the slate and calling for a recount. There are a couple of other races that look like they’ve been jacked also. Just sayin’.

You can’t have anything these days. Damn hooligan kids.

Calling for a reVOTE I mean not recount.

Guys, you got posted on Bob Pollard’s Facebook page. He posted the link and encouraged his fans to go and vote. He drove all that traffic to your site and you threw it out?

Well, I wish I’d known where the traffic came from before I took the original poll down. But, now that I’m satisfied that it wasn’t a few people voting over and over or anything like that, I have to let the original vote stand. It’s certainly more of a blowout than it should be, but there was nothing to keep Johnny Van Zant from putting it on his Facebook either.

I get that the votes are valid but why aren’t all these GBV fans not voting in the other match-ups? Seems to me that the rest of the tournament is going to be perpetually skewed.
