61 Jane’s Addiction vs. 68 Harry Nilsson

Janes Addiction is revolutionary not only for their music — they were one of the first “alternative” bands with their blend of pop, punk, and heavy metal — but because their farewell tour launched Lollapalooza. That traveling festival opened the doors for music festivals like Warped, Ozzfest, Bonnaroo and others.

Harry Nilsson achieved fame for his hit pop songs and his rock and roll behavior. He had hits with “Without You” and “Coconut”, among others.  However, he is also known for following his own path rather than the most commercially viable. He also enjoyed a party, most famously sharing John Lennon’s debauchery-filled “lost weekend”.
