52 Wilco vs. 77 Heart

Wilco formed in 1994 out of the ashes of alt-country pioneers Uncle Tupelo, after Jay Farrar left and formed Sun Volt. While starting off in the same vein, Wilco has morphed into a more experimental, guitar-driven band. Their most successful album was 2002’s “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot”, which was at the center of record-label controversy.

Heart had a string of hits in the 1970s behind the sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson’s musicianship and style. The band sold a ton of records behind “Magic Man”, “Crazy On You”, and “Barracuda”. Despite a decline in the early 80s, the band has continued to record and tour.
