This time we have a couple of groups known for interesting percussion, among other things.
The Police (Sting, Andy Summers, and Stuart Copeland) rose to fame with the punk movement of the late 1970s, but never really fit that label since, unlike many punk bands, they could all play their instruments quite well. Their mix of punk, jazz and reggae made them one of the biggest bands of the 1980s before they broke up. Sting, in particular, went on to a successful solo career.
Animal Collective is made up of varying combinations of artists known as Avey Tare, Panda Bear, Deakin, and Geologist. In the last 12 years they have experimented with many different sounds and been at the forefront of indie music, inspiring a large number of bands along the way. In addition to their work as a group, the members have released solo projects to great reviews.
